1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using TradChords ("the Platform," "we," "our," or "us"), you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Platform.

TradChords is a community-driven platform for sharing and discovering chord arrangements for traditional music tunes.

2. Account Registration

2.1 Account Creation

To contribute content to TradChords, you must create an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information during registration
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorised use of your account
  • Be responsible for all activities under your account

2.2 Account Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this age requirement.

2.3 Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time through your account settings. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

3. Subscriptions & Payments

3.1 Subscription Plans

TradChords offers both free and premium subscription plans:

  • Free Plan - Full access to view and play all chord arrangements, with monthly limits on chord injection, transposition, and Fakebook capacity
  • Premium Plan - £X/month - Unlimited chord injection, transposition, unlimited Fakebook capacity, priority support, and access to advanced features

Specific features and limits for each plan are displayed on the subscription page and may change from time to time.

3.2 Payment Processing

Payments are processed securely through Stripe. By subscribing, you:

  • Authorise us to charge your payment method for the subscription fee
  • Agree to Stripe's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
  • Provide accurate and current payment information
  • Agree to update payment details if they change

3.3 Auto-Renewal

Premium subscriptions automatically renew on a monthly basis unless cancelled. You will be charged the then-current subscription price at each renewal. You are responsible for cancelling your subscription before the renewal date to avoid being charged.

3.4 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings. Cancellation is effective at the end of your current billing period. You will retain access to premium features until the end of the paid period.

UK Consumer Rights: Cancelling must be as easy as subscribing. You can cancel with one click in your account settings.

3.5 Refund Policy (14-Day Money-Back Guarantee)

If you're not satisfied with your premium subscription, you may request a full refund within 14 days of your initial purchase. To request a refund, contact us at adamfrancis2894@gmail.com.

Refunds are not available for renewals, only for initial subscriptions. After the 14-day period, no refunds will be issued for the current or future billing periods.

3.6 Price Changes

We may change subscription pricing with 30 days' notice. Price changes will not affect your current billing period. If you do not agree to the new price, you may cancel your subscription.

3.7 Free Trial (If Applicable)

We may offer free trials for premium features. Free trials automatically convert to paid subscriptions unless cancelled before the trial ends. You will be notified before being charged.

3.8 Complimentary Premium Access for Contributors

We may grant complimentary premium access to users who have made substantial contributions to the platform. The determination of what constitutes "substantial contributions" and the decision to grant complimentary access is made at our sole discretion. This recognises and rewards those who have helped build TradChords for the community.

4. User-Generated Content

4.1 Your Contributions

When you submit chord arrangements, comments, or other content to TradChords, you:

  • Retain ownership of your original contributions
  • Grant TradChords a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to display, distribute, and store your content
  • Represent that you have the right to share the content
  • Accept responsibility for the accuracy and legality of your contributions

4.2 Content Standards

All user-generated content must:

  • Be relevant to traditional music and chord arrangements
  • Not infringe on any third-party intellectual property rights
  • Not contain offensive, defamatory, or illegal material
  • Not include spam, advertising, or commercial solicitation
  • Be respectful toward other community members

4.3 Content Moderation

We reserve the right to:

  • Review, edit, or remove any user-generated content
  • Suspend or ban users who violate content standards
  • Take down content in response to legal requests or complaints

However, we are not obligated to monitor all content and do not guarantee accuracy or quality of user contributions.

4.4 Community Voting

Users can vote on chord arrangements to help surface quality content. Voting manipulation (e.g., creating fake accounts to upvote your own content) is prohibited and may result in account termination.

5. Intellectual Property

5.1 TradChords Platform

The TradChords platform, including its design, code, features, and branding, is owned by TradChords and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.

5.2 Third-Party Content

TradChords integrates with TheSession.org to provide tune database functionality. Tune melodies and metadata from TheSession.org are subject to their own terms and licences.

6. Acceptable Use

6.1 Permitted Use

You may use TradChords to:

  • Search for and view traditional music tunes
  • Browse community arrangements
  • Contribute chord arrangements for community use
  • Comment on and vote for chord arrangements
  • Request chord arrangements for specific tunes
  • Transpose arrangements to different keys
  • Play back arrangements using the audio player
  • Print arrangements
  • Save arrangements to personal collections
  • View tutorials
  • Toggle dark theme
  • Access offline via PWA

5.2 Prohibited Use

You may NOT:

  • Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) without permission
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Platform's functionality
  • Impersonate other users or TradChords staff
  • Collect user data for commercial purposes
  • Use the Platform for any illegal activities
  • Reverse-engineer or attempt to extract source code (except as permitted by open-source licence)

7. Disclaimers & Limitations of Liability

7.1 "As Is" Service

TradChords is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to:

  • Accuracy or quality of user-generated chord arrangements
  • Uninterrupted or error-free operation
  • Security of data transmission
  • Availability of TheSession.org integration

7.2 Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, TradChords shall not be liable for:

  • Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
  • Loss of data, profits, or business opportunities
  • Errors or inaccuracies in user-generated content
  • Third-party actions or content

Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed £100 GBP.

6.3 User Responsibility

You are solely responsible for:

  • Verifying the accuracy of chord arrangements before use
  • Your use of content obtained from the Platform
  • Maintaining backups of any important content you submit

8. Privacy & Data Protection

Your use of TradChords is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data in compliance with UK GDPR.

9. Third-Party Services

TradChords integrates with third-party services including:

  • TheSession.org - Tune database data
  • Firebase/Google - Authentication and database hosting
  • Google Analytics - Usage analytics (with consent)

Use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party service availability or functionality.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

Significant changes will be communicated via email or site banner.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of England and Wales.

12. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
