Jean Banwarth: Hi, Thank you for your nice words :-) F chord is a good substitution for Am because they both contains some importants notes (Am = ACe and F = fAC). Since measure 3 only contains two notes (c and a), there is no problem :-) This tune is however in Dorian A, that is to say that there is no f in the mode but an f#, which should normally exclude the F chord. I therefore take advantage of the absence of f# in this measure to place the chord of F which must surprise the ear just a little, but which will then resolve chromatically towards the chord of D (which does indeed contain an f#, a half tone above the f of the F chord). If we place the f# at the bass on the D of measure 4 (D/F#), we hear clearly the chromatic progression of measures 2, 3 and 4 (E - F - F#). Cheers Jean
