Chord arrangement: D | D-D/F# | G | A | D | D-D/F# | G | D-A // D | G | D | Em | Bm | D/F# | G | D-A

It's a D mix mode but I hear an A chord, not really correct in this mode ? Any advice ?

Adam: Yes, you can change the A -> Am and this will work for D mix. However, for a mixolydian mode, it's common to use a C chord instead since the I -> VII -> I progression is considered a defining characteristic of the mixolydian mode. So for D Mix, this would be D -> C -> D where appropriate. You'll see that replacing that A for a C gives it more of a mixolydian 'feel'. Finally, the A actually works here despite not being a member chord because there are no C notes in the melody where the A chord is being played and therefore, the C# in the A chord doesn't clash with a C note. Hope that helps.
